Best Western Meramie Motor Inn - A Review |
|
1 4WD, 2 adults, 2 children and the wide open spaces of the East Coast of Australia.......Stop 1 - Albury, New South Wales
As has become a tradition with the family our first stop on any trip north involves us stopping at Albury. This works well as a short drive – a warm-up for the rest of the trip – allowing us to leave at a decent time during the day – I am still scarred by the 4am starts my Mum and Dad would force on us for family holidays “to avoid the traffic”. As we have done for the last three times in Albury we stayed at the Best Western Meramie Motor Inn located about a 10 minute walk away from the city centre.
We were booked into one of their family rooms which consisted of two separate rooms and small kitchenette with Microwave, Toaster, Kettle and cutlery and crockery for four persons. Unfortunately compared to our last two stays the room was unimpressive.
We found dust on the pillows and the majority of electrical fittings were loosely hanging from the wall presenting a danger to younger kids (luckily ours are old enough to identify the danger) as well as doing little to instil confidence in the rest of the room. To me it showed the age of the hotel and I think some renovations are in order.
The hotel also has a swimming pool, spa, sauna and barbecue area and is located close to a wide range of cafe’s and restaurants.
Also somewhat different to previous stays the staff were less friendly responding grumpily to my wife when she advised that the orange juice provided was out of date and of the other issues noted above. Given its location it was a disappointing start to the holiday and below the levels of service we had come to expect.
