The London Bridge Experience and Tombs – A Review
When visiting London we tend to concentrate on visiting the historic attractions but on our latest trip we decided to venture away from the norm and do something different. The London Bridge Experience and Tombs is certainly that. Located under London Bridge, the London Bridge Experience and Tombs can best be described as understated with a small door way which seemingly leads into the bowels of London Bridge.
From the time you purchase your tickets from the “skeleton or person from the underworld” you know that this experience is going to be anything but normal. The London Bridge Experience is a reenactment of significant events in the London Bridge history including the time of Jack the Ripper. In the experience you truly do SEE, HEAR and SMELL what London Bridge was like through the ages and the quality of the props and acting is surprisingly good and engaging.
The obvious question is whether or not the London Bridge Experience is suitable for children. The answer really does depend on the maturity of your children. We did it with three children aged 12, 10 and 8 who were comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the experience but they did draw the line at doing “The tombs” which is the second part of the experience (and the more gruesome). However, there was the opportunity to leave them in a nearby waiting room at any time so that the others didn’t need to miss out.
Overall the London Bridge Experience and Tombs is educational, entertaining, enjoyable, and of course kitsch, and one which I would recommend as a break from visiting the standard tourist attractions.
