Ancestry.com.au - A Review
Blame  it on my obsessive nature or analytical mind but I am hooked.

I never thought that I would be and readily admit that laughing at the ancestry.com.au ads on tv but I am addicted to researching my family tree.

It all started when my eldest came home with a school project to prepare our family tree, up until now I had always lived for the present with little regard to my linage.

After taking up the 14 day free offer at ancestry.com.au, I was off starting with me and working back to my grand mother all of a sudden I was able to make connections I never knew existed, connections right back to my 16th great grand father who lived in the middle ages in England.

As I investigated I found people were researching the same linage and amazingly these people had photos and documents which provided me with an insight into the lives of my forebears.

Ancestry.com.au is relatively intuitive and once you have the swing of it, it is easy to use. However, the novice needs to exercise care for one wrong connection in the early years and you can incorrectly connect your family with the wrong line. So my words of advice are to check once, confirm twice and proceed slowly and methodically.

With access to a plethora of international databases all integrated into the one program ancestry.com.au allows you to connect relatives based on census data, birth, death and marriage certificates in Australia, the United Kingdom and beyond.

There are areas for improvement on the ancestry.com.au program especially in the area of navigation, merging entities, viewing updates and source documents as well as comparing trees. But compared to traipsing around the world seeking source documents ancestry.com.au receives a big thumbs up from me.

So as I sit in front of my computer waiting for the hint leaf to appear above a long forgotten relative I know that this relationship will continue into the late hours.
