| Greens Pancake Mix - A Review |
|
With three children under 9 screaming hunger and demanding afternoon tea, I frantically cast my eyes around the pantry in search of something that will keep them satisfied until tea. Having prewarmed the frying pan, I pour the specified amount of pancake mix directly from the container into the pan to be greeted by the sizzling sound, oops pan was too hot. As a result, lets just say my first attempt was a test. Having now got my technique right and the pan at the correct temperature my second and subsequent pancakes were evenly cooked well proportioned pancakes. As I cooked the 10 pancakes I was even able to show my limited cooking prowess by flipping the pancakes out of the pan and onto the plate. My pancakes were nothing like the puffy pancakes on the picture on the container but instead were rather more crepe like. To achieve pancakes, similar to that on the jug, I anticipate that I would have had to reduce the amount of water added in the initial stages. The major ingredients in the mix are wheat flour, sugar, wheat starch, buttermilk powder and whole egg powder. Overall the verdict from the kids was multiple thumbs up especially when ice cream and maple syrup was added.

At first it seems that my only option will be honey bread until I see in the back corner a Greens pancake mix. Greens Pancake Mix is marketed as the Original Pancake Shake, and according to the packet will make approximately 12 (10 to 12cm) buttermilk pancakes.
