High Tea at Tower Lodge Hunter Valley - A Review

The Tower Lodge is one of the iconic buildings of the Hunter Valley.  An exclusive guest house – only 12 rooms, the design is reminiscent of a Mediterranean villa; rendered walls, exposed beams and high ceilings.

We were invited by friends to join them for High Tea at the Tower Lodge and having recently experienced and enjoyed this dining experience we eagerly accepted.

High_Tea_2The Tower Lodge High Tea offers unlimited tea and food with both replenished upon request.  A variety of teas are offered from your traditional Early Grey and English Breakfast to herbal infused variations including Strawberry and Champagne and my selection the Tower blend – Earl Grey tea infused with vanilla and rose petals.

The food was presented in the traditional method of three tiers beginning at the bottom with salmon and brie and prawn and lettuce sandwiches.  The middle tier was scones with jam and homemade strawberry jam. The top tier and by far everyone’s favourite was a selection of desserts comprising a chocolate chip crumble, mango pannacotta, lemon meringue and cupcake.

The food was fresh and well presented with full flavours which complemented the teas selected.  The service was excellent and the atmosphere of the room suited perfectly the concept of high tea.

I have experienced High Tea in Turkey, Singapore and London to date and this was another memorable experience.  A perfect option for those lazy days where you have a late breakfast and or where you wish to catch up with friends over a casual relaxed dining experience in a wonderful setting.
