Eltham Glasshouse Cafe Review
With the kids being looked after, it was too good an opportunity to miss, the chance of breakfast without the constant nagging and rush that seems to go hand in hand with parenthood.
Eltham Glasshouse Café at 1425 Main Road Eltham was our place of choice for breakfast on this kid free day. With views over treed scenery available from the spacious and comfortable lounge style seating we settled in for a relaxing breakfast.
Eltham Glasshouse Café offered at table ordering and complimentary magazines and newspapers for its patrons as well as the obligatory water jug. The breakfast menu was extensive and as always I opted for the big house brekky and the chocolate milkshake. Other options included a variety of egg dishes, toast and pancakes.
The Glasshouse Big Breakfast is aptly named as it comprises eggs (variety of choices), bacon, tomato, sausage, mushrooms, hash brown, spinach, toast and relish on the side. At $20.50 (was $15.95 in 2008) it is getting up there price wise, however when visiting in March 2013 they were offering a 10% discount which made the meal more affordable.
For lunch there is a good variety of food including Lamb Souvlaki ($17.50), The Ultimate Burger with Chips ($19) and Foccacias with optional chips and salad ($14.50).
Kids meals, which are served from 11am until 3pm, are $9.50 and range from Lasagna to Chicken and Chips.
Presentation and quality of the meal was of a high quality and the table service attentive without being over bearing.
Outdoor dining is also offered in two areas while there is ample onsite car parking.
Eltham Glasshouse Café is slightly difficult to locate being situated behind a recently completed modern car wash but once found you will realise what a hidden treasure it is.
Overall Eltham Glasshouse Café maintains the high standard which residents of Eltham have grown to expect and the quality of the food and service should ensure that its reputation for quality dining at an affordable price continues to grow.
Most importantly now that we have found this hidden treasure we are sure to return.
Eltham Glasshouse Café is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week and for dinner on Friday and Saturdays.
