Chocolate Chip Cookies from Scratch – Recipe
When your 12 year old asks you to remake chocolate chip cookies for a Year 7 morning tea you know that you have the recipe for success and one which needs to be shared. The recipe is simple and quick and is as follows:
Ingredients:
- 125 g of butter (not margarine)
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of caster sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- 1 cup self raising flour
- 3/4 cup of plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup of milk chocolate buttons (rather than choc chips as it gives a better chocolate taste)
Recipe:
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 160 degrees celsius.
Step 2
Melt the butter and set aside to cool slightly.
Step 3
Place brown sugar and caster sugar in a large bowl and mix in melted butter until combined.
Step 4
Lightly beat the eggs with a fork and then stir into the sugar mixture while also adding the vanilla essence.
Step 5
Combine the flours and baking powder into a sifter and sift.
Step 6
Add the chocolate buttons to mixture and stir in well.
Step 7
Grease three oven trays and cover with baking paper.
Step 8
Place table spoon size amounts of the mixture onto the oven trays separating the cookies by about 4 cm in all directions. (mixture makes about 20)
Step 9
Place in the middle of the oven for about 12 minutes, then remove from oven and allow to cool on the trays for a number of minutes before placing on a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 10
Eat and enjoy.
Miss 12 took a plate full for the class morning tea and reported back that a number of the students wanted the recipe. So in my books a complete success.
Thanks for the recipe. I might make it for my 43 year old son and his family.
